Should I buy a new 14" macbook pro from Amazon for $200 savings over apple store ?
The same 14 day return policy applies for refund or exchange as well as the ability to sign up for Applecare+ for the same price ($299 for 3 years).

I'd rather spend the extra $200 and save on aggravation later. Is the actual seller Amazon or one of their partners? I have seen numerous posts here of Macs bought through partnered sites like Amazon and it turns out the "partner" is seller computers with, shall we say, a "questionable" provenance that the new buyer can't get fixed by Apple.
You can save $200± and have a full warranty and confidence in the origin of the computer by looking to Apple refurbs. My family have bought at least a dozen refurb Macs san other Apple devices. All have been perfect and gave long reliable service.
Check the refurb site often because it changes hourly:

The determining factor for me would be Amazon's return policy. My experience is when two vendors attempt coordination, the buyer often comes up short.
If Amazon would allow me to take it to a local Kohl's or UPS store for free return shipping and give me a full refund once the Mac gets to one of them, I'd have no problem.
I've taken advantage of Amazon's return policy many times with flawless execution. But then I've never returned a Mac.
I tend to believe you're money ahead buying Apple computers from Apple directly.
