Workaround for Apple TV 4K not allowing you to select on-screen the next song in a sequence in a home-shared playlist
Some of you may have noticed that when you are playing "shared" music on your Apple TV 4K (using the "Computers" app), that when you press the "<" button on your remote, and then swipe the "thumb pad" to see the songs coming up in your playlist on the TV's screen, it only allows you to stop on EVERY OTHER song, not EVERY song. So you might not be able to click on a song that you'd really like to play at that moment.
After recently updating to TV OS17, I discovered that, if you have the new 2nd generation Apple TV remote (i.e., the silver, metal one), you can use the remote's click-wheel to go forward or back to EACH piece of music in the playlist and then select that piece of music to play.
To try this out, start a piece of music playing from any playlist that you have. Then, press on the remote's click-wheel at the 3 o'clock position. It will go immediately to the next song in the playlist. To go to a previous song, press on the click-wheel at the 9 o'clock position. Press it as many times as you want to go forward or back through your playlist. When you land on the piece of music that you want to play, press the button in the center of the click-wheel (i.e., the thumb pad).
I don't know if this will work with earlier versions of TV OS, but you can give it a try. I'd be interested to know.
I hope you find this helpful.
