Empty text bubbles from android users in group message

We have a group chat created for our family members, lately one member's text msgs (an android user) just come in as empty bubbles on my phone (iphone XR), yet appears fine for other family members (various models of iphones). And this is only in Group Message, if this android user sends me direct message I receive it just fine. I have tried just about all the suggested fixes available on the web, the basic turning imessage on/off, mms on/off, turning phone off/on, resetting network setting etc. to no avail. I even talked to the carrier and they sent me a new sim card and even that failed to fix the issue.

I am a IT support person by trade and I am at my wits end trying to figure this thing out, thus reaching out to the community to see if anyone has come across this issue and know of a fix?
