Where is the dock in watchOS 10?

What happened to DOCK, which gave me quick access to the 10 apps I selected and use most, in Watch OS 10? Also, how is pushing the side button easier or better than a quick swipe up to access the Control Panel?

AGREED!! Losing the dock drastically worsens my Apple Watch experience. I think the developers are out of touch with the actual users. It’s almost as if they’re now making changes just for the sake of making changes.

Also, using the crown to access my apps in list view, it always starts at the top! So if my apps are at the end of the alphabet, you have to scroll, scroll, scroll to get to them!

There's nothing good in the latest update, the worst update I've ever seen on iPhone, Macbook or Apple Watch. The worst issues are not being able to swipe to get different faces and the missing dock. The developers need to be given some other tasks to while their time.

The Dock is now accessed by pressing the Digital Crown (DC) once. The recently used apps are accessed by pressing the DC twice.

I just tested the recently used apps. I opened a series of apps. I then pressed the DC twice and the apps I had opened appeared in the reverse order to which I opened them with the last app that I opened appearing first.

The Side Button now opens the Control Center with one press. And it opens the Wallet with two presses.

Agreed. There’s nothing on the upgrade that I’m finding helpful. Losing the FAVORITES and having that quick access to them was critical for me: I have AFib and so had a bunch of heart monitoring apps which I now have to scroll through to find.

it’s not that it’s a massive problem but nothing on this upgrade I can see reduces or improves steps, and instead it’s requiring more time albeit only a few extra seconds.

Recently used apps - on the watch = do not care.

The swip up shows me junk I don’t need whereas before I used this several times per day to switch off notifications. Moving that to the side button…….waste of effort and time by Apple.

Seems counter-intuitive to me.

Since there are so many conflicting responses I wanted to confirm the dock is GONE. The dock option in the apple watch app on the iphone is GONE.

What the heck is wrong with Apple's product team and management???!!!!

I just had shoulder surgery and are minus an arm which makes using the watch difficult as it is. The dock allowed me to limit the number of pokes to get to my important apps.

I don't understand what the swipe up display is and will have to look at the release notes.

Relegating one of the only two physical controls on the device to the Control Center is absolutely idiotic.

It makes no sense honestly. As they were QCing this no one said "wait, we're reducing customization not improving it." The more I think about this, why aren't all three buttons customizable? You should be able to click and double click the Action, Control, and Crown six different customizations. And that should definitely include If This Then That logic. That would be what the premiere smart watch on the market would do.

I’m pretty sure it is not still there! If you push the side button, it now takes you to the Control Panel, which previously was accessible with a simple swipe up. Also, if you go to the “Watch” app on your iPhone, DOCK was previously the 3rd item in the list. That was where you could manage the items you wanted in your Dock. It is now completely gone from the Watch app.

What happens if you press the Digital Crown twice?

"How is pushing the side button easier or better than a quick swipe up to access the Control Panel?"

It may not be better, but it's certainly not worse IMO.

I did but I do not see any way to make a recently used item a favorite like the Dock did, it appears that

each time you open something it adds it to the app switcher. As far as how many can be added and can you rearrange them and will hey remain there after reboot your watch for example I don't know. I'd appreciate any feedback.. tks

I would be excited if l got 10 years but getting 3 yrs is definitely not acceptable. You obviously do not use your watch as much as l do.

I have worn and userd an Apple Watch daily since the release of the first one. So, that's unlikely. I also understand perhaps more than you how electronic devices are made and tested.

There has been an alternative to the Dock, and it is still available in the new Watch OS. An alternative that I think is better than the Dock was. Complications on watch faces. I use the Modular watch face on which you can have 6 complications. Other people use Infograph for this, which can have 8 complications. Most apps now have complications available. I have different watch faces for different collections of complications. E.G. health apps, weather apps, time-related apps, and apps for communicating.

In the old OS it was just left and right swiping to get to the different watch faces. Super easy. So you could have fast access to more choices than the limit of 10 in the Dock. Unfortunately, it's now a press-hold-swipe-tap to switch watch faces. Annoying, but still a good way to get at commonly used apps. Especially with the Dock now gone.

I was hoping to avoid having to do voice commands in the supermarket, TBH. That sort of thing still looks a bit odd in the UK :)

It has been my observation that people are far too busy worrying about how weird they think they look to worry much about you. And besides, who cares if strangers think your odd? ;-)
