Where is the dock in watchOS 10?

What happened to DOCK, which gave me quick access to the 10 apps I selected and use most, in Watch OS 10? Also, how is pushing the side button easier or better than a quick swipe up to access the Control Panel?

So the swipe up gives you the apps, and pushing the Crown gives you the apps. Both give you the same function?

No.

  • Swipe up gives you the widget stack.
  • Pushing the crown once gives you the apps.
  • Pushing the crown twice gives you the app switcher (analogous to the Dock on previous versions).
  • Pushing the bottom below the crown brings up the Control Center.

I took no offense to your posting and took it as empathetic. I think you can see, as I do, that some people have unkind motives when they are participating on these forums. I think some people want an argument. I appreciate that you, like me, are invested in a solution. Hard feelings just aren’t desired. Certainly, hard feelings won’t fix the issues we’re talking about sorting. I also think, the topic shouldn’t provoke ire. There is a problem that needs solving. And it’s not rooted in a dislike of people or this machine. I love what the Apple Watch does, when it works.

Thank you for your kindness when someone else was being unkind. It’s encouraging to know folks are as capable as anonymous kindness as much as anonymous unkindness. I believe, most folks mean others well.

I am not saying hosts or moderators are the people that are the only hoped audience. I know, having worked on consumer goods, that we have glimpsed at what users say. It is a place for candid feedback. It’s also not expected that they participate. It is a forum for customers to network and troubleshoot. But it’s also a good lens to see what works and doesn’t work in products.

But, other than your fellow users, they're the only people reading here. So, while you may hope that other Apple employees are looking here for feedback, that isn't going to make it so. If this issue is important to you and you want to make sure Apple understands just how much, use the feedback page:

  1. I guess I misunderstood the old function of the side button as being the “dock” when people referred to it. My mistake. 2. No obviously you can’t but an analog watch’s inability to swipe faces doesn’t make me mad. Apple taking away that crucial function does and I don’t like getting mad. 3. I did submit to Apple Feedback. Have a pleasant day. :)

This is my last Apple Watch, the latest updates are so counterintuitive, I need reading glasses to see my watch perfectly but could use all functionality without having to set font etc to hideously large by using the dock & knowing what was where, then I could put on my reading glasses if I wanted to use my watch fully.

Now I can’t use my watch without my glasses at all other than to just tell the time, it’s not even worth putting 2 watch faces next to each other with my needed apps between them cause swapping faces is now 3 times harder than before, thanks Apple !!!!

Honestly, this is a thread to complain about the loss of the Favorites dock. The other issues being piled on should be a new thread. Tired of getting stuck on alerts for this thread for entirely other problems.

But I will ask, if there a way to unsubscribe (nevermind, found it, uncheck the bell at the top). And feedback on where to give Apple feedback is helpful. Thank you!

Thanks being helpful. I know about grid view but prefer list. I did not know about rearranging the grid view icons. I do use complications, but I had 4 or 5 apps in my dock, too many for the watch face that I prefer. By the way, I prefer the new way to switch faces, the old way, swiping, often failed. For me, I used the dock many times during the day, and liked to have the workout app first in the list, so Focus is not useful. Can the list view be rearranged?

I imagine there were some reasons for dropping the dock, but what were they? Not explaining the reason is just unfriendly, and frankly, unexpected from Apple.

But, it makes sense for the person to whom I was replying. Not every option is going to work for every one.

No.

No would here would know that.

I guess you haven't used Apple products for very long then, have you? ;-)

I am so disappointed that Apple eliminated the DOCK where I could put the apps I wanted to access quickly. I am aware that I can double click the crown and get the most recently used apps but I put my apps that I access the most, like Messages, Activity, Battery Life, etc on my Modular watch face. I don't want my messages to come up when I double click the crown but that's what is happening. Apple could have at least put our DOCKED apps in the "most used apps" when we double click after the update. Mine had Messages, Tips and Calendar. Messages and Tips are on my watch face, FOR A REASON. The dock was a great tool and I think we all got used to swiping up for the control panel. I'm sure you have your reasons for this change, but I would love to know what they are. Please bring the dock where we CHOOSE the apps we want to be there. Thanks!
