on my primary device I have iCloud -> contacts turned off, also handoff is turned off on both devices.
Before iOS 17.0, each of my 2 devices has its private call log & contacts.
After iOS 17.0 on both devices, I started to see the call history of both devices on my primary device.

Since the update, I have attempted all the techniques to stop the call log from my husband's phone appearing on my phone. It is very annoying not to be able to look at your previous calls to determine who called you instantly without questioning whether the number called you or your husband. I hope that Apple listens and is able to correct whatever was turned on or at least allow us to disable call logs from other devices.
Soooo, is it Apple doesn’t want us sharing IDs with others, or that they don’t want us using them on more than one device?

Disable in both devices in iCloud options:
iMessage, phone, FaceTime and Contacts.
In my case works. Now I receive the right history calls in each phone separately

Thank you for the link. Regardless of “proper operation,” this sharing has not been the case in the past and so should not be happening suddenly without authorization.
Of course it's "not fixed". It's not broken. It is behaving the way it was designed to.
The only way to "fix" it is to stop sharing an ID.

Nothing to fix. Apple says that things are working correctly as designed.
Log out of the ID on the second phone, thats the easiest, I have been call log sync free since IOS 17 was released, my second phone is a work phone, there is another step that can be done as well.
You are talking about personal phones, easy solution to this is make separate ID’s. I would never share my ID with someone else. I am referring to personal and company phones.
Nope tech support said each phone even if same person and one were business and one was for personal use one would still need two different apple ids and can do that through family sharing…
Please come back in a couple days. You're going to find out this does not work long term as many before you have believed they found this solution to learn it isn't a lasting solution.
How many times do you have to be told... the root cause of the problem is your insistence on sharing an ID.

I feel this is not going to work based on what I had to do to stop my synchronization and both sliders on my phones have that turned on.
