Automations won’t send a message if phone is locked

I used to be able to set up sending a message in automations at a certain time. Now with the new update it won’t send automatically if the phone is locked. Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of setting up an automation? Is there a work around or fix for this?

Hi there 8Lin29,

Have you tried making sure the automation is set to run without asking? Have a look at the details below:

Some personal automations can run without asking you for confirmation when they’re triggered.
1. In the Shortcuts app  on your iOS or iPadOS device, tap Automation .
2. Tap the automation you want to run automatically.
3. Turn off Ask Before Running, then tap Don’t Ask to confirm your choice.
4. Tap Done.
5. The automation will not notify you when it’s triggered.

I've created two automations, one to turn on apple Watch, Wrist to raise on at 8 am and another to turn the Wrist to raise off at 8 pm. Unless the phone is unlocked, the automation doesn't work. I've turned off Ask before Running and nothing happens. If I go and manually 'run' it, it works. It would be nice to have it work, automatically, from a locked or unlocked screen. Is there any way to do this?
