Airpods pro 2 adaptive mode in ios17 behavior issue

Hello everyone,

I've noticed something interesting with the Adaptive mode on my airpods pro 2. When I'm in a quiet environment ( no one talks but there is surrounding noise ), it remains in transparent mode, but as soon as I start talking with someone, it switches to noise cancellation mode. I would have thought the behavior should be the opposite - enabling noise cancellation in quieter environments and switching to transparent mode during conversations.

Has anyone else encountered this issue? Also, is the Adaptive mode supposed to learn and adjust based on my usage habits over time?

Would appreciate any insights or shared experiences. Thanks!

Use your iPhone or iPad to enable Adaptive Audio
You can enable or disable Adaptive Audio features on your iPhone or iPad in Settings > [your AirPods].


Adaptive Noise Control
Adaptive Noise Control blends Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode together to tailor the level of noise control for you based on the conditions in your environment.
To switch between noise-control modes while you're wearing both AirPods Pro (2nd generation), press and hold the force sensor on either AirPod.
 
Personalized Volume
Personalized Volume adjusts the media volume on your AirPods Pro (2nd generation) based on environmental conditions and your volume preferences. It learns your listening preferences over time to fine-tune your media volume in response to your surrounding environment.
 
Conversation Awareness
When you start talking while you're wearing your AirPods Pro (2nd generation), Conversation Awareness seamlessly lowers your media volume and enhances voices in front of you. When your conversation ends, Conversation Awareness automatically turns up the volume and brings you back to your original noise control setting.
You can enable Conversation Awareness in Control Center and Settings on your iPhone or iPad. You can also end a conversation manually by pressing and holding on the AirPods stem or swiping up on the stem.
