Dynamic Volume Controls on iPadOS 17

The volume (sound) buttons don't change dynamically as before, depending on the orientation of my iPad, after I upgraded to iPadOS 17.

I had turned off the option "Fixed Position Volume Controls" in Sounds settings, but it didn't work.

Is the new setting for this moved somewhere else?

There have been several reports of issues with Dynamic Volume Controls not behaving as configured. This may be a model-specific bug introduced with release of iPadOS 17.

I found this solution from a Reddit thread:

  1. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset.
  2. Tap "Reset All Settings."

I followed these steps on my 3rd Gen 12" iPad Pro, and the dynamic volume buttons are now functioning properly. Though now I have to re-pair all my Bluetooth devices and re-do all of my Wi-Fi connections and all those other little settings in the iPad. None of my apps or media was lost, just a system settings reset.
