iPhone vip mailbox showing all mail not just vip
This morning, my VIP mailbox is now showing all mail not just my vip’s. I’ve restarted/rebooted, and the problem persists. iPhone 14 Pro Max, iOS 17.0 (21A329). Is there a fix?

This worked for me:
1. Go to list of mailboxes on iPhone
2. Tap EDIT
3. Deactivate (uncheck) VIP
4. Wait a couple of hours, then reactivate VIP mailbox.

17.1.1 seems to have fixed it, but I had to remove and add my accounts back in to get rid of the older non VIP emails that were still showing in VIP because of the bug.
Try unchecking the VIP Mailbox and then rechecking it. This worked for me! I didn’t wait more than 2 minutes! Mickydeenyc: Thank you so much!
I deleted my gmail, restarted phone and added back it and it fixed it. It was mentioned somewhere else here so thank you to the person that posted it. Support at Apple told me to see if it fixed itself tomorrow 😂😂
I’ve had the same issue on my iPhone 15pro since 17.0.0 and has remained since 17.0.3. I contacted apple support and tried several things that have already been suggested. What seems to have worked, so far, is deleting the mail app and then re-installing it. Your accounts should remain on your device, you just have to go into mail settings and turn mail on for each account. So far I appear to have a working VIP inbox. Rumour is that this is a known issue and that maybe a bug fix will be introduced during the next update, whether that will be 17.0.4 or 17.1? Hope this helps.
17.1.1 fixes this problem! Finally. 🤯
Just updated my iPhone 15 Pro Max to 17.1.1 and tested with 1 then several VIPs...shows only those VIPs.

They were likely referring to this: Apple Beta no longer relevant as the problem seems to have been addressed in 17.1/17.1.1 which is now out for everyone.
Delete your account in mail and then re add it back in. I am on 17.2.1 and it’s been fixed for a while now.
Yes, 17.1.1 seems to have fixed it for me too! at last
I fixed mine! I put on the B E T A and then deleted my mailbox that was the issue which was Google than added it back in. I rely on it too and I needed it fixed!
I had this issue starting with the public beta of iOS 17 in August, and reported it through the Feedback Assistant app. Last I checked it had been reported by others as well. Disappointed it hasn't been fixed in the release version. I haven't found any way around the problem.
I just found another post on this which goes into a little more information on when this occurs. Apparently a fix is in the works: Bug is iOS 17 implementation of VIP smart… - Apple Community
17.1.1.1 “Appears” to be fixed. Old non VIP emails appear to be dropping off and only new VIP emails being added.
however, this happened before to and then the issue came back “pre 17.1.1.1
The problem has only been partly addressed for me with 17.1.1
This is a horrible and annoying bug. Removing all VIPs and then putting in just one creates the same problem: All emails show up! Ugh! Fix this.
