Approving Screen time on Apple Watch

Since IOS 16, I have not been able to approve my kids screentime requests via my Apple Watch. It was so easy before. With launch of IOS17, I thought there might be a fix for it. Anyone know a work around or know about a future enhancement?

Previously I could push and hold the notification (on both my phone or apple watch) and it would pop up the option to approve 15minutes, 1 hour, all day or decline. Now on my apple watch I get the notification as a text message and am unable to approve or deny the request, the message says I need to go to messages on phone.

Hello tyler2000,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities.

Is the “Ask to Buy” feature still enabled for your devices? Go here for information on this feature: If Ask to Buy isn't working

Otherwise, this could be an Apple ID, App Store, or billing issue. This next article explains more: If you can’t download or update apps on your iPhone or iPad

If the issue continues, please contact Apple Support directly for more help: Apple Support.

All the best!
