Finding a way to clean removed app

I actually use an external app known as : AppCleaner, and I do try to find a replacement from the store.

The problem is all of those I tried free trial miss file in /var/db/receipts and let them behind.

My answer is simple do you know an app that don't miss those file (or a settings for the app (or macOS) to remove them ?)

Thanks !

You do not have r/w permission on the Macintosh HD System files

I am seeing: bytes, KB, (and a bare minimum) MB in size— how exactly is that an issue?

Why all the effort?

After upgrade more than 14 OS X—macOS from 2006-2023, and 5 different machines migrating forward — i see receipts no older than 2020... for a grand total of 164.8 MB

always advised to use an official uninstaller for applications that supply one in-app or as a stand alone if available.

The ideal way to completely remove all the various bits and pieces of an app is to download an uninstaller app from the vendor's web site, when one is provided. An alternative is to use the free app called AppCleaner. You open AppCleaner and then drag the icon of the app to be removed into the open window. Then you are shown a list of related bits to be selected for removal. Select only those with the same names as the app to be removed and complete the removal, then you can empty the Trash.

Why are you wanting to replace AppCleaner? I use it with much success on 3rd party apps. It works fine with Ventura. The only caveat is this caution:

WARNING: If you use AppCleaner on an app that you have other apps from the same developer, like Adobe, you must be extremely careful checking all checkboxes and deleting.  Some for those files may support other apps from the same developer and deleting them can mess them up.  Adobe apps is a primary example. I know from experience.  For singular apps from a developer it's safe.

First thanks for answer, second, we do have the RW permission since wheel mean administrator so us.

Actually the doc for uninstalling you given mis a lot of data from app in folder that normal user (even without admin right) let behind (container, parameter etc), it's why I find sad that apple do not clean them automatically and we do need app to clean them for us.

I will take an example of UTM who create Virtual machine, if I only remove the .app, It will let behind the VM I have created with it (right now for me) 38GB of useless data.
