How to stop Decryption on FileVault?

Decryption on FileVault is paused. If I connect power adapter to resume, the laptop switches-off and restarts. If laptop remains connected to power adaptor it is impossible to restart it. It does not complete the launch and switches off. The only way to restart the laptop is to disconnect power.

  • I can't launch time machine.
  • I can't reinstall as long as filevault is paused.

Any solution?

Thanks

Changing the setting or encryption/decryption takes only a moment. However, the actual conversion from one state to the other plays out over many hours, in the background, as long as your Mac is awake and not too busy. it can take from all afternoon to several days to complete, and can NOT be stopped or the setting changed again until it completes.

You can do MOST activities while encryption/decryptuion is in progress, but Re-Install is NOT one of those activities.

If you have a Trusted backup, and MUST Re-install, you can ERASE your drive without completing encryption/decryption, but all your files will be lost when you do so.

Encrypting/decrypting an EMPTY drive takes only a moment.
