USB WiFi adapter not recognized

Since the internal WiFi card died, I am trying to use a Netgear A6150 USB WiFi adapter on my 2015 Macbook Pro with Monterey 12.6. This requires the use of 3rd party drivers from Chris1111, and I have successfully installed these. When I insert the adapter, however, I cannot turn on the WiFi. Instead I just get the WPS Push Button Confirmation screen showing testing and looping every few seconds.
