Have @mac.com email addresses been discontinued?

I've been using my alt email addresses with me (@me.com and @icloud.com) as a workaround for a while, but I'm still puzzled by the loss of my ability to SEND from my @mac.com - which I had for a decade or more. I can still receive them but no matter the device or app/webmail, when I try and send I receive, "The server response was: From address is not one of your addresses". It's a mystery!

In fact, I could still send and receive mac.com mail through me.com, up to a few days ago. Now, me.com is gone (I don't remember Apple telling me they were going to do this). So how does one deal with this? Thankfully I don't have a large mailing list to send updates to using a new email address (which may or may not be recognized), but I do have a large number of sites accessed with what is my old email. My email will need to be updated as will the keychains. And old keychains will presumably need to be deleted or something. What a pain.

Receiving emails My @mac.com address is, after 30 years, not receiving emails from some senders across all devices. I am receiving most emails normally but new senders emails frequently don’t reach me, even when replying to an email from me. Impossible, of course, to tell how much this is happening. I just notice it when something I am expecting doesn’t turn up. Been happening for around 2 years now. Can’t find a solution. Would change Apple ID but literally my whole life and business is attached to this one! Any ideas? (Also, not sure if related, I sometimes see emails on my iPad which disappear and cannot be found.) Thank you.

My iCloud email addresses gone from MacMail I have five different email addresses affiliated with my iCloud account and use each to send/receive on Mail. This morning I went to send an email from Mail (on my Mac) and was advised that there are no email addresses affiliated with the account, and was directed to change the Hide my Email settings. Dug in a bit deeper and all of my email addresses are gone from the Mail setup. Mail is still being delivered to those email addresses, but I'm unable to add them to the list of accounts that I can send FROM. I was able to add my primary email back into Accounts in Mail, but am unable to add the other email addresses. When digging to try to find out why, I keep getting referred to iCloud +. Don't know if this is related - the introduction of iCloud + and my email addressing disappearing. Help with this please?
