WatchOS 10.0.1 loading weather issue

Hello, Watch 8 on 10.0.1 and I am having problems with the weather widget / modular face. If I let it use the current location, it marks me all the time “ loading weather” but if I put a predefined city, it shows it without problems. Anyone else has this happen and knows how to solve it?

I have tried resetting the phone and the permissions and even updating the operating system to the latest version that came out yesterday but they continue to give me that problem

It usually happens when I move from one city to another, it's like it doesn't update the location on its own

My observations and a hack until Apple is not fixing this issue with and future update:

Please set on the preferences of the Apple Watch App on the iPhone "Current Location".
Go to the Apple Watch and close the Weather App by double pressing the crone and swiping from right to left every application which is open. With this you shut down the app in the cache.
Turn your Apple Watch completely off by pressing the power button right side, pressing the "shutdown-icon upper right and swiping from left to shut down the watch.
Wait some seconds to be sure that the Watch shut down completely and then turn it on again.
After Reboot of the Watch go to the preferences app on the watch (not iPhone) and see under the weather section what location is set as the default city...in my case it is "current location" then. This stays as long as you don't open the weather app on your Watch! When you open the Weather App on your watch (e.g. by pressing a complication), then in the preferences of the weather app on your watch the default city "current location" disappears and will be set to your the first fixed city you have on your list...and then the trouble starts with no updates on the complications etc.

Same issue. iPhone 15 Pro Max, iOS 170.01, Apple Watch Series 8, watchOS 10.0.1.

I also have 7 or 8 other locations I monitor weather for on my iPhone Weather app and they haven’t copied over to my Apple Watch. Of note, I always seem to have issues transferring my Watch to my new iPhones. I ended up resetting my Apple Watch and added it as new. Not a big deal to me. Just wanted to note that here.

I have also tried other faces on the watch, and they all show the same problem, of not loading “conditions”, if instead you set a default city on the watch, it never causes problems, but of course, it doesn't seem like a solution to me when it was working well before... It gives me peace of mind to know what happens to more people. By the way, I don't care about resetting the Watch, but I already did it a few days ago and it didn't fix the problem.

Apparently the 10.0.2 update only comes out for the Ultra 2 and 9 models, so those of us who have other models have to wait.

I went mad about this. I thought this was about the fact that I switched my watch and paired it with my new iPhone 15 Pro Max. This drove me mad. I even restored my watch to factory settings twice. Hoping this would fix the issue. I always ended up with the same bug you already reported. I hope Apple fix this really soon.

I also got issues with syncing my fitness data with my iPhone. Does anyone else have the same problem?

PabloGarces - that is a fantastic workaround and it works for me as well. Does it still work after opening the weather app on the watch? Or is it just a temporary fix to get the functionality of the widgets back?

Same story, and there is more to it, they broke music app on watch as well, I can choose a playback a particular song from iPhone's playlist, no more. With this new firmware all songs on any of playlist on iphone are dimmed, there is a list of songs, the watch sees them, but can't pic one up, to play. I think now on watch os 10, to play any song even if they on iphone, they have to be copied to watch anyway. So uncomfortable.

Same exact issue on an Apple Watch Ultra 2 running watchOS 10.0.2. It will get stuck Loading Weather for hours, but I can tap on the complication and the Weather app will show the current local weather just fine. But even after closing the app, the complication on the watch face will show Loading Weather.

They have to fix the weather thing man, it takes ages to load, people don’t pay all that money just for the features to start glitching randomly for no reason, is apple declining, should all of us switch to android? Everything about their software works perfectly, I’ve never heard anyone complain about the software if it’s a high end phone or watch.

Yes I just got the Ultra 2 and current location on the weather app doesn’t seem to work…been trying to find a fix for ages and nothing work hopefully Apple see this and fix it soon!

So this issue is actually about switching the same watch between different phones? Just resetting it and configuring it as a new device works?

Manuser77 - I reset my watch & set up as new on my 15 Pro Max and it didn’t fix the issue.
