WatchOS 10.0.1 loading weather issue

Cycling location services on my iPhone off for a couple minutes then back on fixed it (at least temporarily) for me on an Apple Watch Ultra.

The latest iphone update fixed it. I updated and oh my gosh! it worked.

There’s an Apple support article that tells how to fix the weather complication/Smart Stack widget here: If the Apple Watch Weather complication isn't working - Apple Support That helped me once I did those steps.

@JDH. - That’s the same issue, although you consider it two issues. I’m experiencing the same thing.

Again, I switched to a different weather app’s complications to fill the void for now until Apple fixes this issue.

You might need to update the paired iPhone to iOS 17.0.2 before the Watch software is visible.

Also if you are one of the many who tried the recent Public Beta versions you MUST turn off the Beta option in the software update page, and go back to regular release software (the new releases don't show if you still have beta enabled)

Another, more permanent work around would be to use a different app for those complications. For now, I’ve set up Windy for the 5-day forecast and current conditions/temperature.

Although I would prefer the have the Apple Weather info, this will do for now until Apple fixes this.

The issue is with the Watch OS. You cannot reset Location and Privacy on the watch, only on the iPhone from which the watch takes the location settings from. That is why the problem doesn't exist on iOS 17 just WatchOS 17.

If you upload a new face to the watch, it fixes it temporarily, but then it goes into loading mode again.

Same thing happening to me. What I’ll do is go on my wayfinder watch face, change the weather to something random, then change it back and then sometimes it re-appears.

I tried toggling off the following:

background app refresh

changing weather from always allow to never

sometimes it re appears but then it just goes to “- -“

super annoying.

Thanks for posting Manny. The first one worked for me too. Although the Temperature complication didn’t work at first, I changed the complication to something different from another app and then switched it back to Temp. Boom!

We’ll have to see how permanent this last.

If it’s still not working, this may help. This morning I was working out and after I turned the workout app off, the weather app worked perfectly. I think the workout app forced the bluetooth to kick in and that fixed the weather app. I will find out tomorrow if I have to repeat this every day.

Try on the Watch: Go to Settings>Weather>Set default city

Oh good, so it's not just me. I have the Ultra, on 10.0.1 and I just got my iPhone 15 Pro yesterday updated iOS and WatchOS. After updating to 10.0.1, my weather has not been loading, either.

In my Watch app on my phone, the weather app shows the proper weather locations (Seattle, Los Angeles, etc). However, when I view the weather app on my watch, it only shows the default cities of Cupertino and New York. On the actual watch face module, it just shows "--".

Hope this gets resolved soon.

Barbbos - I’m using Windy at the moment until Apple fixes this, but I’d rather use Carrot Weather, but I’m not a subscriber at this time to it, which requires a subscription for Apple Watch complications.

This morning around 09:00 EDT I tried the first part. About an hour later the loading issue started again. I tried the second part (resetting Location Services) and that has seems to work so far. This is 11 hours later.
