ICloud Drive does not sync Downloads

is there an easy way to Sync the Downloads folder on MacOS?

Earlier someone asked and answered the question “which folders on MacOS are synced with iCloud Drive. An important point not mentioned is that the Downloads directory (Folder) does not appear on iCloud Drive. Probably a good idea if all you downloaded are compressed application files I.e. .DMG. If you are like me and you download files or photos or whatever-from emails and delete the old emails because that’s what you do, know these items are not synced (saved to iCloud) and you would lose them if your Mac got stolen or damaged beyond repair. The only way I know to address this would be to practice good Downloads folder hygiene and move the items from there (Downloads) to Documents, Desktop or Photos or wherever and keep your Downloads folder free of any of these important items. Is there an easier way to effortlessly have the Downloads folder syced? Periodically (always once every two years) I trash big DMGs from Downloads but almost never move the other stuff out of Downloads.

Any other out there?

Hello rstark1,

Please check out this link, which explains how to work with folders and files in iCloud Drive, and outlines the available options, which may be helpful: Work with folders and files in iCloud Drive

Work with folders and files in iCloud Drive

iCloud Drive appears in the Finder sidebar, where you can select it to see its contents. It contains folders created automatically for the apps that support iCloud Drive, such as Preview, TextEdit, Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. It can also contain folders you create and files you save or move into iCloud Drive or its folders.

iCloud Drive also contains your Desktop and Documents folders, if you turned on or selected Desktop & Documents Folders in iCloud settings.

WARNING: When you turn on iCloud Drive to update your Desktop and Documents folders, turn off any other third-party app or cloud service that syncs your Desktop or Documents folder. Syncing by other third-party apps or cloud services can interfere with or stop the updating performed by iCloud Drive.

Thanks!
