Apple Wallet has old phone number for text verification

Chase Sapphire Card works with Apple Wallet

https://www.chase.com/digital/digital-payments/accepted-cards

I have added several cards included the Chase Sapphire Card to Apple Wallet.

I do not need instruction on how to add a card or check that Chase Sapphire Card works with Apple Wallet.

All my other cards are added and verified and work to make purchases.

About 2 months ago I obtained a new phone number. I updated all my accounts. I know my Chase Sapphire Card account profile has my new number in it. I checked online and on a customer service call to triple confirm they have my new number AND that my old number is not associated with my account in any way.

When I click “complete verification” in Apple Wallet the only option is to send a text message to my OLD phone number.

I have tried various things like restarting Apple Wallet, restarting my iPhone, removing then adding the card, etc.

I have asked Chase to investigate on their end.

I am posting this message on the Apple discussion board to get at the issue from the Apple end.

As a guess, there is some sort of cache issue. That is just a guess. I am open to any other explanations based on actual knowledge (I do not need guesses, I can already guess 😉 on my own).

Is there a way for ME to flush my old number out of Apple Wallet or otherwise reset my Apple Wallet so Apple pulls my new number from Chase?

Is there some way to ask Apple to investigate and (hopefully) resolve.

thanks

Apple doesn’t verify your account. Your bank does the verification. You see your banks terms and conditions, you agree and your bank responds. That’s how they confirm your identity. Apple can’t confirm the obvious, it wouldn’t secure your account in any way.

Many banks use a third party to do the verification. You’ll need to talk to someone in banks Apple Pay support team. This usually is not Tier 1 support. Get your issue escalated and you’ll finally get someone that knows how Apple Pay works with your banks verification system.
