Face time on Apple TV with iPad

When trying to use face time on Apple TV from iPad (6) with iOS 17.0.1 , the iPad won’t show on the device list, won’t get an authentication notification and won’t even recognize the qr on the tv.

other iPhones with the same Apple ID work fine.

Hey yaronheg,

Looking into this a bit more, we found that the FaceTime on Apple TV feature requires your iPad to use the Continuity Camera feature. The requirements can be found here: Continuity Camera - Apple Support

Note: Continuity Camera requires an Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later) with tvOS 17 or later and either of the following: iPhone XR or later (including iPhone SE 2nd generation) with iOS 17; iPad (8th generation and later), iPad mini (5th generation and later), iPad Air (3rd generation and later), iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later), or iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and later) with iPadOS 17.

From your original post it appears you are using an iPad 6th generation, so that is why it isn't appearing in the list of devices for you to choose when using FaceTime on your Apple TV. Just in case, here's more information on this feature: Use FaceTime on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later) - Apple Support

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Take care!

Hello yaronheg,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Sounds like you're experiencing issues with your iPad. If so, we'll like to help out by recommending some steps to help troubleshoot this issue. Try following the steps below:

1.) To troubleshoot your device not being listed, double check that Find My is enabled: Set up Find My on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac - Apple Support

2.) If Find My is properly set up, refresh your communication settings by resetting your Network Settings. Tap Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before. If you're using iCloud Keychain, these settings are also removed from other signed-in devices.

You might also want to try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network to see if that helps out.

We hope these steps help you out. Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
