Why is it saying I need atleast 4.2 Gigi bites of storage to do the iOS 17 update but i have 6 open and it’s not letting me

I want to get the new software update iOS 17 but it is saying I need atleast 4.2 gB of storage when I have 6 and it won’t let me get the update I have the iPhone 12 and am on iOS 15 and it wont let me get 16 first wither

It sounds like you're having some trouble completing an update. We can help.

If you're not able to update over the air, you can try using either a Mac or Windows PC instead using this article as reference: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with the Finder.
