How do I lock my watch during a workout? The Lock button is no longer there when I swipe right.
It appears the lock feature during a workout has gone away??
Apple Watch Series 5, watchOS 10

You have to start your workout FIRST.
To engage the lock, Press (but don't HOLD) the flat button (the one on the side flush with the case), scroll down to the water drop and press it. The water drop lights up. Then the screen automatically goes back to the screen you were at within your workout with the stats showing.
To disengage the lock, press and hold the crown button until it clears. Then you can swipe to pause or end the workout.
I do agree it is a silly change for the sake of change. No value add.

This new method is no good. Last night during an ice hockey game my watch not only unlocked from waterproof mode it also called my ex girlfriends best friend…
Apple does not read this user-to-user technical support forum for feedback.
But you can send Apple feedback via:
If enough users send feedback, it is more likely a decision maker will see it, and maybe take action.
Right but this doesn’t help me when I’m working out and want to see my workout watch face but I can’t because it’s locked?
As for me, it was a very strange decision because now they have an empty space . Looks like they just forgot about this button. Waiting for an update and I hope they will add this button again
apple watch app on the iphone, under workout, you can toggle this off :)
Clicking the side button once just takes me out of the active workout and brings me back to the lock screen with no water drop option. I have the Series 5 watch, does anyone know if it doesn't work with this watch anymore?
I have a v7 watch running 10.2 and a v14 phone running 17.2.1. I speed skate with wrist guards so locking the watch was critical for accurately logging workouts. I have looked at everything here but nothing locks the watch during a workout. When swiping during a workout why is there a “new” button replacing the “lock” button? Don’t understand the purpose. I have put up with how inaccurate it records (I get gaps so the dreaded grey dotted lines linking times between when it drops and picks up recording) but without the locking function the watch now becomes useless.
I fully agree!! I wonder whether anyone actually tested the app during running. If I don’t lock the watch, especially when it rains, the watch does whatever it wants. I’ll keep scrolling the comments, I hope someone came up with a working solution
The Workout App appears on the locked watch face once it counts down and the workout starts when you start it by using Siri. You don't need to have the Workout app started first. What Apple needs to do is explain this sort of stuff better. They also need to make it possible to water lock the watch by using Siri first.
Recently I keep getting volume changed on the random while listening to the music during working out. I’ve realised it’s because of accidentally touching the crown while training. How can I engage my watch to have crown locked while exercising. It’s frustrating. I don’t remember this being the case before
Just make a button lock that works. This is so dumb. Cant lift without pausing or stopping a workout or activating siri mid-lift. Makes 0 sense why there isnt a standard lock. Water lock does **** all.
The watch is now rendered useless as a fitness tracker. I can’t believe Apple have taken the lock function away. Even using the water drop function doesn’t work as the watch can still be paused. Not good enough Apple.

Have you told Apple what you think?
The control Panel was available for years by swiping up from the bottom of the watch face/screen. The feature was changed almost a year ago when WatchOS 10 was introduced. How did the feature get changed? One of the contributing factors was the feedback link that is frequently shared in the various communities here in Apple Support Communities. I’ll share it below, and if enough people share their thoughts, there’s a fair chance it could be changed back.
Awesome 👏 I just tried and works like charm very needed feature :)
Is this an either -or choice,
or a step 1, step 2 procedure??
