Cannot switch Apple Watch faces after 10.0.1 update

Since updating my Series 7 watch, I am unable to swipe left or right to access other saved watch faces. Anyone else experience the same problem and/or know how to resolve?

thanks!

Apple, please bring back this functionality (swipe to change between watch faces). You can bring it back with a toggle in settings. Hard press and tiny face preview is AWFUL.

This is what happens when you don't bother to read past the first post in the thread. Had you done that and read just one post below, you'd have seen Apple did bring this back in WatchOS 10.2 and exactly how you can enable it.

Am experiencing the same issue since updating my Apple Watch 7 to 10.0 and then 10.0.1. The watch faces gallery has stopped loading on the Apple Watch iPhone app and if I try to set a watch face from the ones added to My Faces, nothing happens when I tap ‘set as current watch face’. The iPhone is running iOS 17.0.1. Noticed significant battery drain in the Apple Watch too since updating to 10.0 & 10.0.1.

Have tried switching on and off airplane mode, un-paired and paired the Apple Watch with iPhone, and eventually unpaired and paired as a new Apple Watch but the problem still persist.

Is there any other quick fix available that I may try?

I’m very frustrated with this change. I designed my watch faces to be able to switch quickly while taking care of kids, cooking, biking, working out… having to press and hold is actually unsafe for some of my uses.

So disappointing that they took the option away instead of leaving the choice.

I hate it, and this is less of a useful device for me now.

Not recommending it anymore. Not when you can’t rely on it to function as you need it to from update to update.

This seems to be typical of Apple. Give us tons of features that no one actually wants, but don’t check in before removing features we actually need. (Laptop ports, ability to control iPhone interface layout, etc)

That's a thing? Never happened with me. But it's a pain now. They could make this an option, at least. Something else to send in the feedback

And the idea of changing a watch face multiple times a day never occurred to me before this change. It still strikes me as odd and something I would never do. It just goes to show that how I use a watch is not necessarily the same as how other people do. And vice versa.

Apple has access to tremendous amounts of user data so, I'm guessing they have some sense of how the majority of people use the phone.

It is extremely annoying that the swipe to change watch faces feature has been removed. I hope Apple sees all of these complaints and makes a feature in setting to allow people the option to go back to swiping.

No, Apple does not see these user-to-user technical support forum posts. Just your powerless fellow users that happen to read what you posted, which is maybe a few hundred. A couple of dozen volunteers, and all the users that complained about the change in this thread.

If accidental watch face slide was a issue, why not just and a feature to turn off sliding for those people. This could have easily been done in the watch app. What you did was use a hammer to crack an egg open. Why change our experience. I bought this watch for this feature are you going to let me return my watch?
