iPhone 15 Pro not charging

Brand new right out of the box (No damage or foreign objects in charging port) I just updated it and transferred my data from my iPhone 12 and none of my cables or charging boxes / PC will charge my phone.. But when its off if I plug it in it will turn the phone on but still not charge. My wireless charger will charge it and Yes tried different charging cables, force reset, checked for any debris in the charging port.. Basically everything they told me to do to troubleshoot it..

The fix that worked for me was turning off optimized battery charging and clean energy charging, also use usb c cable not MagSafe. And if your phone is a little warm you should cool it down with something. For me holding it in front of an ac vent in a car worked.

the issue is the phone thinks it overheating and refuses to accept a charge.

let me know if this works for you aswell

I have this issue also. iOS 17.03 or 17.1 don’t fix this issue. Those patches seemed to be for 3rd party cables. I use all apple cables and chargers and it’s still not working. Wireless charging works fine, but using a USB-C cable doesn’t work reliably. I’d say it fails 85% of the time. Sometimes it works temporarily after reboots. I tried a USB-A to USB-C cable and that works all the time. Funny enough this also started happening to my iPad. So now my iPad Pro and IPhone 15 can only charge with USB-A to USB-C cables reliably. Also plugging these two devices to my Mac Mini fail to connect. If I use the USB-A to USB-C cable the Mac Mini then shows my devices in Finder. This has to be some sort of software issue, as this all started happening with iOS 17.

After speaking with Apple, they suggested that I restart the phone, and this magically made the phone charge when plugged in again, so has to be a software problem.

After being fully charged another time, the screen has gone totally black and this also required a restart, so I'm sending mine back for a replacement, in doing so after an agent's advice, I lost all my settings and text messages/apps when preparing the phone for sending back, I am very unhappy with this right now. Could be simply a glitch, or more likely a software issue, but I could have a lemon, of course.

Try a Forced Restart:

  • Press and quickly release volume up button
  • Then immediately press and quickly release volume down button
  • Then immediately press and KEEP HOLDING the side power button. KEEP HOLDING it past the swipe to power off and KEEP holding it until you see the Apple Logo, then let go

See if you can charge your iPhone after you sign back in with your Passcode.

Did you perform the Forced Restart procedure I detailed above? If yes, and the Anker charger and cables won't work, then I'm afraid it's off to the Genius Bar at your Apple Store. I have multiple Anker Nano 20w charging plugs and I've tried it with multiple USB C to USB C cables and in all cases both our iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max charge.

Here is the combo that worked for me. This is the 2nd 15pro that I have that has now experience this issue. The solve was the above + Plus the following steps:

  • Hard Reset
  • Shutting off the Battery Optimization
  • Shutting off Green Energy

I spent 2 days in an apple store and their solution was to replace the phone after not finding a solve. Two half days of my life I will not get back that they don't have a solve for. The above solution has worked on my second phone this morning and it is now charging the way it should.

Hey everyone, I've discovered a recurring issue with my phone that seems to be a bug in the system, likely related to the software. Like many of you, I've tested various chargers, and the results remain consistent. When you plug in the phone while it's off, the battery appears to drain, possibly at a faster rate.

What makes me believe it's a software problem? Firstly, my wife has the same phone, and she's experiencing the exact same issue. This suggests that the problem isn't due to hardware damage, especially since we purchased our phones from different sources.

Secondly, I performed a hard reset, which successfully resolved the problem initially. However, on the second attempt, the issue resurfaced. This indicates that certain system values might be altered by certain apps, causing the problem to return.

In essence, it seems to be a software glitch affecting multiple devices. Apple Tech, we may have a problem that needs addressing. Any insights or solutions would be greatly appreciated.
