My Mail app will not open

I click on the App, it opens for a couple of seconds, and then closes.

iMac, OS X 10.11

Try opening Mail while depressing and holding the "shift" key.

If that doesn't solve the problem try opening Mail in Safe Mode.

Shift key makes no difference - it opens and immediately quits unexpectedly. Same happens in safe mode. Only happens since I upgraded to Sonoma 14.1.1
