I want to update to Ventura so I get get Free Form on my iMac and Software Update is saying I am up to date with Catalina. Everywhere I look says that my machine is compatible with Ventura. Thoughts?

I believe not that Sonoma is out Macs not compatible with it are not give upgrades available anymore.
You could try going the App Store and searching of macOS Ventura and if it shows you can download and install it. Or use this link: Ventura 13
If not try the directions in this Apple document: How to download and install macOS - Apple Support
Try again while in Safe Mode.
Does anyone have any ideas on this? All the Ventura data says my machine is compatible. Software Update says my machine is up to date with Catalina.
When I follow the link that Niel provided and click "get" on the Ventura page, Software Update hangs on "finding updates" forever.
