Unknown Part Unable to determine if your iPhone camera is a genuine Apple part.

I own a iPhone 13 pro, nerve get any repair but one day i received a notification about my camera "Unknown Part

Unable to determine if your iPhone camera is a genuine Apple part. This could be because the part is non-genuine or not functioning as expected, or the installation is incomplete." Can anyone please help and I also wanted to say that Apple is just playing with our money. Apple don't care about any of these issues

If you are seeing that and you've never had anything replaced, it would indicate a hardware issue. You should contact Apple and have them run diagnostics.

I can’t see the battery health and that’s important to know.

No, really it's not. Maximum capacity tells you nothing actionable. The only times you need to look at it are if your phone isn't running correctly or if you're near the end of your warranty. In your case, you already know there is a problem with your phone. And, if the phone is new, it's still under warranty.

The function is not affetecd by this message (Genuine/Ingenuine Parts)

If you still need help, reset your Face ID, then set it up again. Go to Settings, tap Face ID & Passcode, then tap Reset Face ID. Next, tap Set up Face ID to set it up again.

Parts and service history

With iPhone 12 models and later using iOS 15.2 and later, you can go to Settings > General > About to see the parts and service history of your iPhone and you can see if the camera has been replaced. If the repair was done using genuine Apple parts and processes, you will see "Genuine Apple Part" next to Camera.

  • You will see an Unknown Part  message if the camera installation is incomplete or if the camera:
  • Was replaced with a nongenuine camera
  • Was already used or installed in another iPhone
  • Isn't functioning as expected

This message doesn't affect your ability to use your iPhone or access your camera.

If your iPhone's camera has been previously replaced, repaired, or serviced by an unauthorized service provider, it's worth noting that Apple may decline to provide service for your device. The decision to refuse service will depend on the specific components that were affected by the unauthorized service.

So I posted on this thread before. I have been having all these same issues, no repairs were ever done nor is my phone broken yet I received the unknown part notification with limited usage on my camera. I took it to the Apple Store and the Genius Bar says my camera failed and MagSafe charging failed. They quoted me $499 to fix both, but the camera itself is $219 to swap out. Now of course I’m not going to be paying for something that isn’t broken. Definitely an Apple issue with either their hardware or software that needs to be fixed asap.

You too? 🙄 Read this entire thread for answers and troubleshooting. You need to read the entire message as it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not an Apple part or intentional. It can mean 3 different things, one being a general hardware issue, which can happen with any hardware at anytime.

Stupid message just popped up on my 13 ProMax today - BEFORE I did ANY new updates. I was on iOS 15 when the message popped up so I did the updates and my camera issue isn’t resolved. Never had any issues and NEVER been repaired.

It means you have a hardware problem with your camera and it needs to be repaired.

what gives Apple?? Apparently it’s a WIDESPREAD issue.

1) Apple doesn't read here for feedback and 2) It's not.

I am having the same issue after the most recent update. It came out of nowhere as I was taking pictures. I did a reset and then a full factory reset and the issue still exist. I've never had any repairs done as it's never had any issues whatsoever.

It means you have developed a hardware problem. You need to have your phone services.

I believe you’re right, but it shouldn’t be on my dime and unfortunately my closest apple repair is 100 miles out. Fingers crossed for another update to fix it, those odds are probably low.

Updates will not fix hardware problems. It sounds as if the recent update reset the warning, but when it finally finished all its background work, the warning reappeared.

Apple can run many diagnostics remotely. If your phone is under warranty and the cause of the issue is determined not to be the result of damage, it shouldn't cost you anything. If your phone is out of warranty, you will need to pay to have it fixed.

I have a 13 Pro Max.

I had the same message pop up this morning.

The only things I noticed were: my camera lagged / froze last night while taking a video; this morning, I went to take a picture, and the screen was blank, but if I flipped the picture around (to take a selfie), it was ok.

I am up to date with updates - iOS 17.3.1

I reser all settings, and I powered the phone off for 5 minutes. When I turned the phone back on, the notification was gone.

I know how late this reply is, but a very possible cause for the issue could’ve been from you dropping your phone or any sort of friction that could have knocked hardware out of place. For me, I only started receiving this notification (alongside issues with my .5 camera) after it had fallen down the stairs and directly hit the corner of my phone closest to my camera. Chances are, it’s simply out of place and needs to be realigned or replaced. So because of that, your phone isn’t recognizing it as it normally would
