Airpods not charging

My airpods gen 1s wont charge when i plug them up. the case just flashes orange when i plug them up and nothing changes. ive left them chargin all not long and cant find an answer for why they just flash when plugged in. thx

My first suggestion would be to try a different charging cable to rule that out.

Secondly if you are still having issues you should hard reset the airpods a few times by following the steps on the Apple Support link below:

Try a different charger specifically one that’s apple branded and if that doesn’t work if you know any friends or family members who have the same AirPods model try asking them to charge your AirPods in the case. If it is not the case it is the AirPods and if it’s not the AirPods it’s the case. Use the apple support app for further diagnostics and if no resorts use your apple care.

Its not the charger and I cant factory reset because my friend gave them to me and they were his old ones, and i dont keep in touch w/ him anymore. so what do i do to diconect the apple id to reset them
