Apple Music on Android Auto (Android phone) stops playing sound after playing a few seconds (but playback continues)

When playing Apple Music on Android Auto (from an Android phone), a song will play for a few seconds before going mute (although the status bar indicates it is still playing). The only workaround is to then pause and play the song and the audio comes back or sometimes I have to unplug the phone, hit the play button on apple music on the phone and then plug it back up. There is no rhyme or reason I can tie to it, although most of the time it seems like it is the second song that plays after I start to drive. I am using AA on a 2024 Kia Telluride. I have seen one other report this issue, but any thoughts on a fix?
