iOS17 swapped the locations of the iPhone mute and speaker buttons

The new ios17 swapped the locations of the mute and speaker buttons. The speaker button was on the left side of the screen. Now it’s on the right. Can I customize the calling screen buttons? I’d like the speaker button back where it was.

Make an option to reverse it back. That simple.

If you bothered to read past the first post, you'd have learned not one person on this user to user only forum which no one from Apple participates can grant your wish. So, it's not that simple as we can't change anything. You'd have also seen a feedback link posted multiple times, which you can use to tell Apple what you think they should do. Use it if you want Apple to know your thoughts.

User Interface, doesn't mean users can usually customize or change everything they want. User Interface, simply means its what the user uses. Some things can be customized in iPhone User Interface, like wallpaper for example or where you want apps to appear. But what can't be customized such as what you're referring to, can't be customized.

If you're not happy with the changes Apple made, feel free to tell them. Complaining here is pointless on this user to user only forum, which Apple doesn't participate in.

I can’t stand that my speaker button is on left now and mute on right I always use my speaker button as I’m a bit deaf I have never pressed the mute button yet can I have it reversed please

No one reading here in this user-to-user forum can make changes in the way Apple has thing set up.

You can let Apple know what you'd like to see here:

Your responses telling everyone to stop complaining, well seems to miss the point of this type of forum. People that are frustrated seek feedback from others because they want to know if they are alone in suffering. It is helpful to have shared experiences.

I appreciate your comment, honestly, I do. But you seem to not know this isn't a complaint forum. This is a technical support forum where users ask a technical support question and other users answer the question if they can. The question has been asked over and over how to undo the changed locations of the phone controls in iOS 17. And the ONLY answer there is is you simply cannot do that. Complaining about that fact, may be cathartic, but accomplishes nothing and is indeed, NOT what this forum is for.

If someone wants to complain, which many seem to want to do. Doing it here is quite pointless as this is strictly a user to user only forum which no one from Apple actively participates. So we have many times provided a feedback link for users to express their thoughts to Apple directly.

And here is that link again in case they need it --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple

Thanks and stay well........

I'm sure that presents unique issues for them. But the fact remains, this is a user to user only forum, which Apple doesn't actively participate in and as users we had nothing to do with any changes Apple chose to implement in iOS 17.

All we can recommend is you use the feedback link which has been provided to share your thoughts with Apple.

If you'd bother to read the thread, you'd know you aren't speaking with Apple. You're just speaking with other users like yourself, NONE of whom have any ability to put anything back where it was.

You are more than welcome to let Apple know what you want here --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple

Every year, things change. Adapting to change isn't actually a bad thing. I can't even remember how it was before this now that I've been using it a couple months. And next year, other things will change. You can't stop change to be honest.

I hate this! Why swap those 2?? There are times I do like to mute my voice as in when I’m saying something to someone I don’t want the caller to hear…note, I may inadvertently put myself on speaker and announce it to everyone!

Why are you telling us? We are your fellow users. We can't do anything about it.

I so agree. I get it it looks prettier. It’s balanced, but use the phone one-handed and have difficulty accessing the microphone icon sometimes using my right hand is just not an option. I can’t imagine what it’s like for people with permanent disabilities.

I use the phone one-handed and the change is great. Of course, I hold the phone in my left hand. My point is that not everyone has the same needs as you do. And not everyone with a "permanent disability" is going to have a problem with this, either.

If you want to have the calls always answered in speaker phone mode, go to Settings>Accessibility>Touch>Call Routing>Speaker.
