Change the notification sound in iOS 17

With update to iOS 17, you can hardly hear the notification sound. It sounds like a water drop. Is there a way to change it back to the tone I had before. It’s making me crazy. And I’m also having a problem getting my iPhone voice when I restart my phone. If there is no fix I want to down grade. HELP.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Access Sound & Haptics.
  3. Select Default Alerts.
  4. Choose your preferred tone from the list of built-in sounds under Alert Tones.
  5. The checkmark against Rebound is set by default.
  6. You can further buy more alert tones from Tone Store.
  7. If you're not intrested, simply tap None.
  8. By tapping Haptics you can also change the haptic feedback.
  9. It allows users to create a custom vibration by selecting Create New Vibration.

Apple needs to correct this. The default notification sound is too quiet, and the inability to change it to something else or adjust the level is extremely disappointing and contrary to every principle of good UI/UX engineering. Apple should accept that they made a mistake here and roll it back, or better yet, give us actual options for notifications of third-party apps, such as allowing us to set the volume and pick a sound we can hear.

In previous iterations of ios, atleast users could chose preferred notification sound from the given list. With ios 17, that basic option is also removed. Are the developers not capable enough to provide end users with basic functionalities? They should understand providing more and more non functional and complicated features does not make any sense. Let the feature thing be android thing. Bugfree seamless experience has always been the USP of apple. Which is mostly gone these days.

You can let Apple know your thoughts here:

Oh, my gosh, that's the funniest thing I've read all week!

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. I have in fact submitted a concern to Apple some time ago. It amounts to a cruel thing to those of us who have difficulty hearing.

I have no doubt it's frustrating.

I assume you also have the phone set to vibrate? How about the option to have the camera flash go off when there is a notification? I realize those are not solutions, but they are options that are currently available.

It's not something I notice as I have an Apple Watch and I feel the vibrations on my wrist.

Tell me funny it is when you're hearing impaired.

You apparently missed the point of that interchange. What is funny is the idea that using Apple products was ever bug-free or seamless. Like all technology, Apple products are far from perfect.

Regarding the notification sound (which I never made any judgements about one way or the other), tell Apple:
