Reset my MacBook; somehow I downgraded to OSX Mountain Lion! Why? I have a “Vintage” MacBook Air mid-2013; whenever it’s acted up in the past 10 years, I’d go into recovery mode and factory reset the machine. It always spruced it up to feel new again, and always kept the MacOS I had installed. I’ve been on MacOS Mojave- and although a bit antique, it’s worked fine for me until today. Things just kept crashing over and over, so I tried my reset to factory setting trick. However instead of resetting to Mojave, it reset to Mountain Lion! it looks fun and old; but nothing works now! The old App Store is completely dead; and safari won’t let me open most pages. I’m wondering WHY did this happen, and how do I get a useable macOS back on again? (a new machine IS in the foreseeable future; but I need something more instant for now.) thanks

13 inch MacBook Air Mid 2013 OS X I reformatted my 13 inch MacBook Air mid 2013. The OS that got installed after reformatting or erasing the HD is Mountain Lion. It got installed using the internet function. The original OS files in the hard drive was gone too. I can barely install any software on this device. I cannot get the Chrome in the app store because it says not compatible with the OS installed. Same thing with Facebook. What newer OS is available and how can get it installed. It always say error when I try to update. There should be some use left on this laptop. Thank you.

Troubleshooting iPhone Apps not Working:

A. Provide an Image:

Seeing this would most certainly help. Can you provide a photo or a screenshot or your screen? Reply back with it attached to your post. IMPORTANT: Block out personal info (i.e. names and eMail addresses) by covering it with re-colored rectangles and such, through use of the Photos app.

B. Incompatible, Perhaps?

You macOS is quite old and obsolete. So, that may be getting in the way here too.
