Apple TV 3rd generation can't connect to wifi - password error

My trusty Apple TV 3rd generation won't connect anymore to my wifi. It always claims there is an error with the password but doesn't give a possibility to change it. No option neither to "forget this network" and restart.

Reset to factory settings brings no success.

Restarting neither.

On/off neither.

Router provides WPA2 and WPA3. I have set it to WPA 2 and WPA 3. No success.

Seems there is no mechanical reset button on the unit.

Software is up to date.

Hardwiring it to the router funnily works, same network and password.

Anyone any other idea?

Return to factory?

Try the steps as mentioned in: If your Apple TV can't connect to Wi-Fi - Apple Support
Try the ‘Other…’ option instead of selecting a listed discovered network. Especially if the password has been changed.
For Apple TV (4th generation or earlier), verify that the router or access point isn’t set to use WPA3, as only device models from ~2018 or later support that. Instead use ‘WPA2/WPA3 Transitional’. Some users report that they had to set ‘WPA2’-only first.
