No notification sound when using CarPlay

Hi All. I have iPhone 14 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 5, Apple Airpods Max, BMW i3 (CarPlay wireless). When my iPhone is connected to either CarPlay or Airpods, I don't get any notification sounds/vibrations when receiving text messages. I also tried with connected Apple watch, what always vibrates when only the Watch is the connected device, but if I'm trying to use together with CarPlay or Airpods, it does not vibrate, the phone does not give any sound, and the Airpods/CarPlay does not give any sound notification either. The main app that I'm using and would like to fix is Viber, but FB Messenger and Whatsapp have very similar behavior. Of course, all the notifications are turned on, and 'Driving focus' in the CarPlay is turned off.

Our ultimate goal is to make the Apple Watch vibrate whenever I receive any text message, indepentently from the fact that to what other deviced the iPhone is connected to. Do you have suggestions please?

This was driving me nuts after I expended a great deal of money and effort on a custom CarPlay retrofit solution including hands-free controls via a column switch stalk on a vintage car, only to realize that being able to have it read a text message aloud was defeated by never knowing when I received a text message (the lack of sound from the stereo was annoying, but the the inhibiting of my Apple watch vibration was frankly shocking)!

...It turns out it's controlled by the ringer mute switch on the side of the iPhone!
