How to use "My stocks" template from Numbers

I have inserted the information from all the shares I own, but my question is, how to insert new shares that I will own eventually.

Do I create new rows, copy the informations of the stock, and insert the number of shares and price paid? By doing this the chart will create a new row of indication with the same stock name from the previous that I already own, and it will not "stack" to the stock with the same name.

Not that I know, but Numbers was probably just a tool for the OP to track his investments, the best he could think of. Just as you said, to "track the effect of transactions in a portfolio (...) you need specialized software." so I was pointing that there are free solutions.

But I did check my account on Morningstar and there is an export to Excel button for the data tables. Granted, it doesn't provide automatically live data to Numbers but the web site itself is as complete as you need, so duplicating it in a spreadsheet is quite unnecessary (well, that site is short on charts though, if that's what you like. Other sites may be different).

For example, I already inserted 10 shares of NKE with the Price Paid "X", if I buy 20 shares more of NKE with a different Price Paid, and want to add this information to the spreadsheet, the only way is adding another row, and inserting this information? By doing so, the chart will identify it as another Stock, and will include this row as a new Stock symbol, and will not add or sum to the existing NKE stock, so that is why I do not understand how to use it...

Yes, agreed. Numbers is good for tracking the value of a simple list of stocks but there are many far better solutions for full portfolio tracking.
