Assistive Touch/ Hand Gesture in Apple Watch

I think hand gesture features is a great help in most of our daily life.

When I enable double clench to activate Apple Pay and double clench to confirm payment, it doesn't respond well and keep going back to watch face.

Am I the only one facing this issue?

Hello LegoCake,

I've noticed that you're still encountering difficulties with the Assistive Touch feature on your Apple Watch Series 9. I'm here to provide further assistance in resolving this issue. Let's start by ensuring that the feature is set up correctly:

1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone.

2. Tap "Accessibility."

3. Select "AssistiveTouch."

4. Tap on "Hand Gestures."

Firstly, please check the activation gesture that is currently configured. Ensure that you are familiar with it. If you wish, you have the option to disable it, although I wouldn't recommend doing so. Additionally, if you plan to primarily use this feature and not rely on tapping the side button to confirm payments, it's advisable to enable "Confirm with AssistiveTouch."

EDIT: Please make sure that the "clench" gesture is not set to "press crown" because sometimes the Watch may misinterpret a clench as a double clench. Also, when performing a double clench, do it swiftly to reduce the chances of misinterpretation.

I apologize if this doesn't resolve your issue. This could be an error with the software or hardware on your device, I recommend reaching out to Apple Support directly so they can assist you directly.

Hello LegoCake,

I understand you are experiencing some difficulties with using Assistive Touch on your Apple Watch. While this feature can be quite helpful, it may not always detect every movement accurately. I'll do my best to assist you, but to provide the most precise guidance, I'll need to know the specific Apple Watch Series you are using. For now, I'll assume you have a watch from the 8th generation or older. (Keep in mind, Assistive Touch is only available from Series 4 onwards)

Most importantly, remember to perform the "activation" gesture before attempting the double clench to activate Apple Pay. This gesture ensures that the watch is actively looking for movement. If you skip this step, the feature may not work as expected.

To further enhance your experience with Assistive Touch on your Apple Watch, here are some additional steps you can try:

1. Ensure that your watch is securely strapped to your wrist to minimize any unnecessary movement.

2. Try turning your Apple Watch off and then back on again. Sometimes, a simple reboot can resolve minor issues.

3. Consider disabling and then reenabling the Assistive Touch feature to refresh its settings.

While you can turn off the activation gesture and have Assistive Touch work without it, I advise against doing so, as it may lead to frequent false activations, making the feature less reliable.

I hope these tips help improve your experience with Assistive Touch on your Apple Watch. If you have any more specific information about your watch or encounter any further issues, please let me know so I can provide more targeted assistance.
