Apple Pay not working with double tap.

Out of nowhere, my Apple Pay on Apple Watch is not working with gestures. I have an Apple Watch 8 and an iPhone 15 pro. I perform a double tap gesture and I hear a sound like normal but it won’t show Apple Pay. I turned off my watch, my phone, toggled off assistive touch and nothing works. If I double press the side button, it works. If I choose another option for double tap, they work. But when I select Apple Pay for double tap, it won’t pull up my cards, the screen remains the same. I’ve become so accustomed to using gestures that double pressing side button is odd especially when my other hand is holding something. Anyone else experiencing this and how was it resolved?
