I have updated my watch to 10.0.1 and now my swipe (to find my phone, Wi-Fi, etc) does not appear.

I cannot access my find my phone, etc. by swiping up. When I swipe up it provides me with the date, calendar, exercise, etc.

Push the bottom button on the right side and those options will appear.

This feature change on the new update is ridiculous. Apple, WHY would you move the feature to swipe up to the side button???? First off, that side button gets clogged all of the time with gunk and doesn’t work. So if you have that problem, you can’t access the waterproofing button so you can clean out the gunk! Makes zero sense! Especially since now swiping up AND turning the dial crown upwards gives you the same screen of apps!

These are the worst features. Does Apple not have anything better to do than create havoc for watch users? Maybe a focus group or ten that talks about what NEEDS changing. And not changing what DOESNT. The fact that all features seem relegated to the crown dial makes no sense. I want to swipe up to find my phone, and know how to get to, without 14 steps, my workouts and my calender. The worst ridiculousness I've witnessed on Apples part in a long time.

It’s absurd. They wanted to put an essential feature on a first-to-fail button.

I added a shortcut to Find My on my watch face, but even that is useless, because it takes three extra steps to select my phone and ping it. It also takes 10 to 20 times longer to connect to my phone than the old feature.

I pretty much have my watch just to find my phone, so again, this is a very disappointing update.

yes, I gave this feedback to Apple, and I intend to repeat it for every feedback type I can choose.

Agreed. Your answer is exactly my own. I basically use my watch for that reason over any other. And now there are too many steps to take and my item (phone) is on the BOTTOM of that list and takes FOREVER to do the same outcome that used to take 1 click!! So frustrating and WHY change a wonderful go to — for what reason?? Awful! How do I make a complaint?

You can send Apple feedback via:

Feedback - Watch - Apple

If enough users send feedback, it is more likely a decision maker will see it, and maybe take action.

The iPhone ping icon in Control Center, that used to be accessed via swipe-up is now accessed via a quick press and release of the flat oval side button (see picture)

Use Control Center on Apple Watch - Apple Support

DO NOT hold the button, as that brings up Emergency services and the power off icon.

If the ping iPhone icon is not near the top of the Control Center list of services, you can scroll to the end of Control Center and tap "Edit" where you can rearrange the icons in whatever order you prefer, so that the iPhone ping icon is right there on the Control Center screen without needing to scroll any longer.

Getting the press and release timing just right can be an issue. You can make it more reliable by changing:

Settings -> Accessibility -> Side Button Click Speed

“Side Button Click Speed” can adjust the press and release timing, so you get the Control Center display every time. Adjusting The "Side Button Click Speed" is also useful for Apple Pay’s double press and release. There is “Default” (sub second timing of needed), “Slow” (up to a second between press and release), and “Slowest” (up to 2 seconds between press and release). I like the “Slow” setting.

NOTE: Slow and Slowest settings do not mean you have to wait a full second or 2 seconds between press and release. It just means you do not need to be super fast.

Also it is possible to just say "Hey Siri, ping my iPhone"
