MacBook iMessage search is not working..

I have had this message when trying to use the search function or clicking the info button on individual messages - 'more suggestions will be shown once imessage finishes indexing.'

I have tried everything short of resetting my whole computer .. signed in and out of iCloud, all devices are updated. All of my other apple devices are working fine. My iMessage is all connected to iCloud. I have run out of options. Please help. Thank you so much.

Every time I try to open the app, my laptop freezes, and I get a non responding error, forced to force quit, and then given the option to report it to Apple. iMessage crashes each time I load it. What can I do? When I tried to load iMessage on my MacBook Pro tonight, this message came up: After I entered my email & password, iMessage loaded and about 5 seconds later crashed. I have tried to load it about 10 times, getting the same result each time. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a solution?
