Hello maggy1951,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. We may need a bit more information in order to provide the best resources for you. However, it sounds like you may be referring to either emails or iMessages.

If you need to add an email account to your iPhone, use these steps from Add an email account - Apple Support.

"Set up automatically if you use a common email provider

If you use an email provider like iCloud, Google, Microsoft Exchange, or Yahoo, Mail can automatically set up your email account with just your email address and password. Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings > Mail, then tap Accounts.
  2. Tap Add Account, then select your email provider.
  3. Enter your email address and password.
  4. If you see Next, tap Next and wait for Mail to verify your account.
  5. If you see Save, tap Save."

If you're referring to iMessages, make sure your settings look right using the following from Set up Messages on iPhone - Apple Support.

"Turn on iMessage

  1. Go to Settings  > Messages, then turn on iMessage.
  2. To select which of your phone numbers and email addresses you want to use with iMessage, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, then choose from the available options below “You can receive iMessages to and reply from.”

Learn more about iMessage."

If you're referring to something else, please let us know a bit more about what you're experiencing.

Take care.
