setup two monitors on mac mini m2 pro

just bought a new apple monitor 5k and i have an lg27 5k and want to run both got photo editing

Mac mini, macOS 13.6

if yours does in fact have the more capable PRO processor:


Simultaneously supports up to three displays:


  • Up to three displays: Two displays with up to 6K resolution at 60Hz over Thunderbolt and one display with up to 4K resolution at 60Hz over HDMI

Your Apple monitor 5K requires a Thunderbolt cable, and that cable is limited to 0.8 meters length for Apple cables, 0.5 meters length for bard-X cables.

for LG displays, the EXACT model would be needed to tell for certain, but if it has a input with the ThunderBolt symbol, a cable with the ThunderBolt symbol would give good results. Length limited (by Brand) as above.


cables that 'shipped in the box' are often "lowest bidder" cables, and are barely good enough to keep you from returning the product to the store in disgust. You need certified cables with the ThunderBolt symbol.
