iPhone settings

I recently purchased a new iPhone SE to replace the iPhone 6 I've used since 2014. Two items are driving me crazy and I can't find the settings required to fix them.

1) every time I plug it into my computer, it requires a password to "trust this computer". It should know this computer from before, all my previous iPhones never had a problem with this. How can I stop it from asking this?

2) when using apple pay, it requires I open the wallet app. My old phone worked by simply holding it up to the payment device then using touch ID. This phone always returns an error message telling me to open the wallet. What setting controls this, I very much want to restore the quick check out feature.

Thank you

iPhone SE, iOS 16

Regarding item 2, to invoke Apple Pay, double click the side button then use Face ID or enter your passcode.

Regarding item 1, additional security has been added since the old days. There is no getting around it.
