Need Help Creating iOS Shortcut for toggling Silent Mode

I am trying to create a Shortcut in iOS 17 that will toggle Silent Mode On/Off. So far, I've been able to create one that turns it on and asks to confirm. I can choose to turn it off the same way, but must confirm. Right now that takes too many button presses. Below is a screenshot of the Shortcut Results:

Below is a screenshot of my Shortcut:

I have tried to use two Set Silent Mode Actions, one On and One Off, with the Ask Question removed, but that did not work. Only the first Action (Turn On) is executed.

Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

To toggle between states such as Silent Mode On and Silent Mode Off, create a shortcut as you stated: "Set Silent Mode" from the list of actions. Once this appears on it will read "Turn Silent Mode On". Press the word "Turn" to reveal the drop down menu and select "Toggle". This will alternate between turning Silent Mode on and off.

On second look, the two actions do work — but there is no visual indication of which mode I'm in (On or Off.)

Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

Good question. I hope to assign multiple actions which can be selected from a list after a long press on the button. The first action on the list would toggle mute on and off.

If the suggested shortcut above works, that would be the way to do it.

That's a very cool idea! I occasionally try to learn more about shortcuts so, I'll keep an eye on this thread. Thanks for taking the time to answer.

I’ve also sought a shortcut to easily one step control/adjust settings to volume 0% and mute

Because flipping a switch continually will wear it out and doing this via software is more reliable once it works.

is there a finished shortcut I can download?

every morning and evening for going to work/home I turn the volume down (via on screen settings) to nothing and then select “mute” or “unmute” as needed. While my shortcut coding experience is infantile that which I’ve downloaded did not work.

Buttons and switches on iPhones are designed to be used and are wear-tested for well beyond average use. The number of people in these forums who report issues with their mute switch (not as a result of damage) is very small.

I don't use shortcuts very much so I couldn't begin to tell you. Personally, I use Focus to automate things like that.

Every water proof case I’ve had has made it very difficult to switch silent mode on and off on purpose and very easy to switch it accidentally and then there’s no way to tell it’s in silent mode without switching again (often switching it into silent mode when I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t silenced). I think this will help with all that too
