Having DNS (?) issues after installing new router

Hi! I have a pretty unique setup due to privacy concerns: Windscribe VPN, Intego net barrier firewall, recently a tp link AC1750 router in my room. I installed this router because the one provided by my ISP was slow and I wanted to up the ante. However, after the installation of the router, which went relatively smooth for a first time router installer, my wifi works on my iphone and other devices, but the Ethernet wired connection falls out on my MacBook Air, same as wifi on my Mac. It seems that this can only be fixed by a reboot and a restart of my router and Mac, then it works for a while and then it falls away again. I notice the issues through the fact that when I try to connect to the VPN service, it takes forever to connect; if I try to google something, it takes forever and eventually says the DNS address couldn’t be resolved; I can’t perform a speed test,…. All of a sudden everything broke, but only on my Mac. I am kind of lost and need your kind help

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.0

Check Router Configuration:

  1. Access the TP-Link router's web interface through a web browser (usually by entering the router's IP address in the address bar). Check for any firmware updates and apply them if available.
  2. Review the router settings, especially DHCP and DNS configurations, to ensure they are correctly set up. You may want to use Google's public DNS servers (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) or your ISP's DNS servers.
  3. Make sure your MacBook Air's network settings are configured to obtain IP and DNS addresses automatically (via DHCP).

VPN Configuration:

  1. Check Windscribe VPN settings to ensure they are configured correctly. Ensure that the VPN client is set to use the same DNS servers as your router or manually configure DNS settings within your VPN client.

Test Without VPN and Firewall:

  1. Temporarily disable Windscribe VPN and Intego NetBarrier to see if the connectivity issues persist. This will help determine if they are contributing to the problem.

Checking one in this will fix this issue.
