Hermes horse watch face on Series 9 watchOS 10.0.1 goes blank after sleeping then waking

I just picked up the Hermes Series 9 41mm Apple Watch. I was particularly excited about the horse watch face. Unfortunately, it only works when I first load it. Once I lower my wrist then raise it, the watch face is mostly black/blank (to clarify, not the black background with outlines like when lowered).

I’ve unpaired the watch, re-paired, and started a new watch config (instead of loading a backup), and the problem persists. Power cycling has not helped either.
