iPhone XR overheating running Safari

When running just Safari, screen brightness set to 60% and no protective casing, my XR is seriously overheating to the point of being uncomfortable to hold and brightness automatically being dimmed further. iOS 16.7. Battery recently replaced wrongly thinking it was the issue .

Hey there ChrisBayliss,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities.

Since the issue started recently after having your battery replaced, it may be helpful to return to the location where the service was provided and have them inspect your iPhone for any issues.

If you had your iPhone serviced through Apple, reach out to Apple Support directly at this link here: Get Support - Apple

We'd also recommend reviewing the following resource for more details on when you can expect your iPhone to feel warmer than usual: If your iPhone or iPad gets too hot or too cold - Apple Support

We hope that's able to help.

Take care
