No more full screen video scrubbing iOS17?

Scrub/Drag, left or right, on the timeline. It’s still there. But limited to the timeline area.

So annoying. I used this all the time, now I’m frustrated that is gone and for upgrading. Definitely doesn’t feel like an upgrade. Now you have to tap, then wait, then *dim the ****** screen* (which covers/fades what you’re watching), then scrub at the very bottom. That also runs the very real risk of switching/closing the app since the app switch/swipe up gesture starts right there. You have mere pixels to correct.

I can’t believe there isn’t massive outrage over this change. People are raging over watchOS 10 not being able to swipe faces but not this change? When reading around on Reddit I see more people outraged over the full screen scrubbing in iOS 16 than the removal of it in 17. But I’m noticing that most of the people upset about the controls in 16 just didn’t know how to use them.

could we at least have a setting to bring the iOS 16 controls back?

This was one of the best features for me. I feel frustrated every time now watching videos. It was by far the most ergonomic feature by far.

Make it configurable instead of just removing for whatever reasons. Especially if some users dont like it - making it configurable is catering to everyone…

This is something completely different. The function you are talking about needs you to tap once to almost hide the content/video to show the navigation elements than very gently swipe the finger the position point in the timeline. But especially on long videos it is almost impossible to swipe just couple of seconds forward or backwards. And than you need to wait untill the navigation elements and dimming of the video disappears. But the scrubbing in comparison to it was hundred times useful and removing this feature is absolutely incomprehensible step backwards😤

This is simply not cool. It was one of the most used feature and I can't imagine this was an intentional move by apple. I am hoping they are listenting and fix this in the next update of iOS

Not happy at all with this change. Upgrade is supposed to mean better. This is NOT an upgrade!!

Bring back the iOS15 video controls. The change in iOS16 was bad enough with removal of double tab forwarding and now it’s totally gone? Who thought this was a good decision?

Ugh I’m frustrated too. It was a feature I quickly adapted to since a few apps I used had implemented it first. It was extremely convenient!

Now I find myself being reminded of it’s absence everyday and signing into this website to add my two cents. Apple, seriously not cool removing a feature that streamlined daily use. I hope it makes a return in an update!

Aren’t Apple supposed to be all about UX? This is one of the worst decisions I’ve seen in 20 years of using Apple products. The pull of a Google phone’s photo editing was already making me rethink iPhones and this is another nail in the coffin. Sort it out Apple. You are falling behind.

Worse than the risk that the app minimizes is the actual and real impact of the unnecessary tap opening a new pop up or redirect instruction making it impossible to view your video continuously. The us coder who designed this latest upgrade based on taps should be removed and Apple should fixthis immediately in 17.1.2.

And the worst thing is that it seems nobody from Apple is listening their customers. I read couple of discussions on this topic here on Apple discussions and no response from Apple. Why? You really don’t care what your customers want? Steve must be turning over in his grave like a propeller🤬

With the removal of the explicit thumb nub on the slider, you can now slide anywhere along the track to move through the video. Whilst interacting with the slider, all other buttons quickly fade out of the way.

Where are you going on ios 17
