iWatch connected to cellular service

I have an Apple Watch 8 and my cell phone provider charges me $20 per month to provide service to the iWatch. Is there a way to avoid the $20 monthly charge by "tethering" the Apple Watch 8 to the iPhone 13? I know I would need my phone to be close by, but it always is. Just seeing if I can avoid the $20 monthly charge.

Hello Steelers53Barney,

We see you are asking about cellular service with your Apple Watch. You can remove your cellular plan if you no longer want to use it and have your iPhone paired with your Apple Watch similar to the GPS Only models. Keep in mind that services you might use now with the cellular plan would no longer be available. Instead, you'll need to have your paired iPhone within range for certain services.

Here's how to remove a cellular plan: Set up cellular on Apple Watch

Remove your cellular plan

You can remove your cellular plan at any time:
1. On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.
2. Tap the My Watch tab, then tap Cellular.
3. Tap the information button  next to your cellular plan at the top of the screen.
4. Tap Remove [carrier] Plan. Tap again to confirm.
5. You might need to contact your carrier to cancel your cellular subscription.*
When you erase and unpair your Apple Watch, you also get the option to remove the plan from your Apple Watch. When asked, choose Erase All to remove the plan.

Take care.
