That's just the way email works. When you officially "forward" a message, it totally scrambled the format.

What you can do instead is select the original message and choose "Send Again" from the Message menu. This will create a new e-mail with the original message unscrambled. You can send it to someone else, and even add your own comments. But trying to do a "forward" will "quote" the original message, and scramble the internal content.

Your signature is just a bunch of attachments anyway. I recommend that your signature be strictly plain text to avoid this kinds of problems.

Hi apple7819,

Thanks for sharing that test.

If only one account is having an issue, there might be a configuration problem in settings.

  • In Mail, open Mail > Settings from the menu bar in the top left.
  • Click the Accounts tab.
  • Click the account having trouble.
  • On the Account Information tab, check to make sure Send large attachments with Mail Drop is off.

Let us know if that helps. If this is an IMAP account, you might consider removing and re-adding the account having trouble.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

Hey apple7819,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. If we understand correctly, when you forward an email that contains an attachment, the email is sent as two separate emails. If that's correct, let us know a bit more to help narrow down what's happening:

  • Do you have more than one email account and if so, does this happen with all email accounts?
  • Does the same behavior happen if you send a newly created email that contains an attachment?
  • If you visit the webmail site for your email service provider, does the same behavior happen when forwarding an email that contains an attachment? The steps to test can be found in the section "Test using webmail" here: If you can’t send or receive email on your Mac - Apple Support

Keep us posted.

Take care!
