“Your account has been disabled in the iStore and iTunes” - WHY?

Why am I getting: “Your account has been disabled in the iStore and iTunes”. My payment method on file is valid, and there are no additional details or next steps provided. I am not even able to update an existing app or download a new “Free” app.


Unable to use the App Store or iTunes on my iPhone because they have been “disabled”, but no reason is provided
